    Dr. Aizawa currently serves as Counselor to the President, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), being entitled Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. He was Executive Member, Council for Science and Technology Policy (CSTP), Cabinet Office, Government of Japan, in 2007-2013 and Member, Intellectual Property Strategy Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Japan, in 2007-2013.
    He earned his B. Eng. from Yokohama National University and Dr. Eng. from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1971. He was Assistant Professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1971-1980, Research Fellow of Lehigh University in 1974-1975, and Associate Professor of Tsukuba University in 1980-1986. He joined Tokyo Institute of Technology as Professor in 1986. He was appointed as Dean of School of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, in 1994-1996 and 1998-2000, and Vice President in 2000-2001. He was President of Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2001-2007.
    He served as President of Japan Association of National Universities (JANU), Chair of Council for University Accreditation, and Member of Central Council for Education (Chair of University Division). He was Member of Science Council of Japan, Vice President of Chemical Society of Japan, President of Electrochemical Society of Japan, President of International Society of Molecular Electronics and Biocomputing, and President of International Society for Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence.
    He is the recipient of the Chemical Society of Japan Award, the Electrochemical Society of Japan Award, Outstanding Award of the Electrochemical Society, International Chemical Sensor Award, and others. He was decorated by the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2005.

    生命工学、バイオエレクトロニクス研究の第一人者であるとともに、東京工業大学学長、国立大学協会会長、総合科学技術会議議員を歴任し、日本の大学院改革、科学技術政策に関する提言を行ってきている。
    1966年、横浜国立大学卒業、1971年東京工業大学大学院博士課程修了後、東京工業大学、米国リーハイ大学、筑波大学を経て、1986年東京工業大学教授。生命理工学部長、副学長を歴任後、2001~2007年東京工業大学学長。2007年から、内閣府総合科学技術会議の常勤議員。大学設置・学校法人審議会会長、中央教育審議会委員・大学分科会長、国立大学協会会長、日本学術会議会員等の要職を歴任。
    専門は、生命工学、生物電気化学、バイオエレクトロニクス。電気化学会長、日本化学会副会長、国際生物発光・化学発光会長等を歴任。
    日本化学会賞、電気化学会賞等を受賞。2005年紫綬褒章を受章。
    著書に「大学進化論」「バイオセンサのはなし」「創造する機械―ナノテクノロジー(訳)」他多数。

    富士フィルム株式会社にて技術開発に携わり、桐蔭横浜大学教授に就任。その後、桐蔭横浜大学・工学研究科長(2006-2009年)、東京大学大学院総合文化研究科・客員教授(2005-2010年)を歴任する。ベンチャー企業「ペクセルテクノロジーズ(Peccell Technologies)株式会社」を2004年に設立し、2009年までCEOを務める。これまで継続してきた研究テーマである色素増感太陽電池・ペロブスカイト太陽電池の実用化を目指す。ペロブスカイト太陽電池の研究にブレイクスルーをもたらし、数々の賞を受賞。ノーベル賞候補にもしばしば名前が上げられている。

    [Professional Career]
    Calum Drummond is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and Vice-President of RMIT, has a leadership role in the development of discovery and practice-based research and in building and enhancing capability in research and innovation across the University. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation is responsible for the Research Office, the School of Graduate Research, e-Research, RMIT Gallery, Design Archives, Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Research Capability, including the eight enabling capability platforms (ECPs).

    Professor Drummond has a strong interest and passion for the commercialisation of research outcomes. He joined RMIT University in 2014 from CSIRO where he was Group Executive for Manufacturing, Materials and Minerals comprising 1300 researchers and research support staff and an annual budget of $250 million. Immediately prior to this CSIRO Group Executive appointment, he was Chief of CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering (CMSE), CSIRO’s largest division. Prior to becoming a Chief, Calum was seconded from CSIRO to be the inaugural Vice President Research at CAP-XX, an Intel portfolio company. CAP-XX develops supercapacitors for consumer electronic products. In 2006 CAP-XX listed on the London AIM.

    He is a Fellow and former Director of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (2006; FTSE), a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (2004; FAICD), a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (1994; FRACI) and past RACI Honorary General Treasurer and Council member, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2012; FRSC; UK-based).

    He is an adjunct Professorial Fellow in Chemistry at The University of Melbourne and an Adjunct Professor in Chemical Engineering at The University of Queensland. He has previously held an Adjunct Professorship in Chemistry at The University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Vincent Fairfax Ethics in Leadership Program run by St James Ethics Centre and a Fellow of the Williamson Community Leadership Program run by Leadership Victoria.

    CSIRO(Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Australia)にて研究を行うなか、Intelの投資先企業で「CAP-XX」社に初代の研究担当副社長として出向し、世界最高性能のスーパーキャパシタを開発し、同社の株式上場に貢献した。開発されたキャパシタは数々の賞を受賞し、現在日本でも販売されている。CSIROの最大グループである材料科学・工学研究所の所長を務めたのち、1300人の研究員・研究補佐員からなる製造・材料・鉱物グループを責任者として率いた。2014年よりRMIT大学にて現職。

    Krister Holmberg, born in 1946, is Emeritus Professor at Chalmers University of Technology. He was Professor of Surface Chemistry at Chalmers between 1998 and 2016 and between 1991 and 1998 he was Director of the Institute for Surface Chemistry in Stockholm, a research institute with more than 80 industrial members from around 10 countries. Before that he spent 15 years in the pharmaceutical and the chemical industry, including several years as Research Director of the surfactants company Berol Nobel.

    Dr. Holmberg has been Visiting Professor at the University P. et M. Curie, Paris in 1998 (host: Prof. Marie-Paule Pileni), at the University of Florence in 2014 (host: Prof. Piero Baglioni), at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2016 (host: Prof. Bradley Chmelka) and at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing in 2016, 2017 and 2018 (host: Prof. Junbai Li). Through the years he has supervised 18 PhD students and many postdoctoral fellows. He has published 310 papers in refereed journals and written or edited 7 books. The most recent book, B. Kronberg, K. Holmberg and B. Lindman. Surface Chemistry of Surfactants and Polymers (Wiley), appeared in December 2014. Dr. Holmberg is also the inventor or co-inventor of 37 patents or patent applications.

    Dr. Holmberg’s research interest covers surfactant chemistry, reactions in microemulsions and other microheterogeneous media, encapsulation technology, nanomaterials and biotechnological surface chemistry.

    Dr. Holmberg is a member of the Editorial Board of a number of journals: Journal of Surfactants and Detergents, Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (Ownership Board), and Encyclopedia of Surface and Colloid Science

    Dr. Holmberg is a member of the following academies:
    - The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Nobel Prize awarding academy)
    - The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences
    - The Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Gothenburg.

    Dr. Holmberg was President of the International Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists 1996-1998 and President of the Swedish Chemical Society 1999-2005 (vice President 1994-1999). He received the l'Ordre National du Mérite au grade de Chevalier by the French Government in 2000, the Oscar Carlson Award by the Swedish Chemical Society in 2006, the JCIS Life-Time Achievement Award in 2008 and the Kash Mittal Award in 2018.

    1998年から2016年までシャルマーズ工科大学にて教授を経て、現職。それに先立ち、1991から1998年には、ストックホルム界面化学研究所の所長を務めた。この研究所は王立工科大学と連携する研究所群のひとつで、資金の半分を国が、残りの半分を会員企業(およそ10か国・80社以上)が負担して運営されていた。その以前には、界面活性剤メーカー・Berol Nobel社の研究部長を務めたほか、15年間にわたり薬学・化学産業に従事するなど、産学官共同研究の経験が豊富である。

    2012から2014年に創薬試験用化合物メーカー・エナミン社(Enamine Ltd.)にて化学者として研究に従事したのち、2015から2016年にマックスプランク研究所・コロイド及び界面化学部門でポストドクター研究者を経て、2016年から現職。現在は、マックスプランクコロイド界面化学研究所・Markus Antonietti所長の下、社会課題の解決に取り組む化学研究を推進している。

    物理化学的視点に基づいた、摩擦研究(トライボロジー)の第一人者。トライボロジー分野の代表学術誌であるTribology Lettersの編集主幹を長く務める(1994-2017年)。
    産業界ではThe Plessey Company(イギリス)で研究主幹を務めたのち、博士課程へ進み博士号を取得(1982年)。ウィスコンシン大学ミルウォーキー校の助教授・准教授を経て、1994年から教授、2007年よりディスティングイッシュトプロフェッサー。
    これまでにカグリアリ大学(イタリア2012年)、エコールセントラル・ド・リヨン(フランス2015, 2018年)、San Luis国立大学(アルゼンチン1993, 2017)、La Plata国立大学(アルゼンチン1991)にて客員教授を務めたほか、海外での経験も豊富。
